This model was specifically designed to reproduce the most sought after
pre-war instruments. This gorgeous banjo has the same genuine Deering
20-hole bell bronze tone ring, drum assembly and neck shape as the
Golden Classic & Wreath models for that traditional crisp Bluegrass
tone!
Greg & Janet Deering have gone to great lengths
optimize the sound of these instruments. Each fret has been glued
in place to ensure the finest transfer of tone. Also, the inside
of the resonator has a tapered side wall so that more sound is directed
outward through the flange holes instead of being caught inside between
parallel walls. This feature increases the volume of a banjo and
improves the tone considerably!
The heart of the Deering Golden Era banjo
is the Deering bronze tone-ring, meticulously fitted to the three ply rock
maple rim. Deering tone-rings are machined to two thousandths of an inch
tolerance for correct fit and consistent tone. This is a bell like tone-ring
of precision and power. The Golden Era pot is fitted with a one piece
resonator flange that is thicker and stronger than many competitor's banjos.
