Eastman Guitars : the new El Rey Series!

I haven't seen a new guitar model create this much excitement within our staff in many years. We have just received our first shipment of El Rey series guitars from the Eastman Strings company and they are absolutely irresistible. Within five minutes of them arriving I personally purchased one myself!!! I played it last night in a jazz quartet setting and got the best tone I have EVER had! I have definitely never had so many positive comments from other band members!!!

There are three distinct models in this new line. The first one that I will feature is the fully hollow, two pickup, ER2, weighing in at a resonant 5.1 pounds!!! This instrument comes in "Classic" (pictured above), Sunburst, Custom Sapphire Blue & Custom Red finishes and features all solid wood construction. The El Rey guitars were designed by custom guitar builder Otto D'Ambrosio who is the originator of the unique "neck block cutaway". This instrument definitely gets my vote for guitar design of the year from both an aesthetic, playability and tone standpoint!

Eastman El Rey ER1

The Eastman El Rey ER1 is a single pickup version of the ER2 ... fully hollow, all solid, carved top & back, ready to gig. This is the natural choice for most jazz players who tend to use the neck pickup exclusively ... and what a neck pickup! This Kent Armstrong designed humbucker is really alive sounding and with the twelve adjustable pole pieces you can really dial in the string-to-string balance! I absolutely love the simplicity of design in the ER1 ... one pickup, one volume control, one tone control. This really is a classic design!

Eastman ER3 El Rey

The Eastman ER3 El Rey was designed to satisfy players who need a guitar for a wide variety of musical idioms. Where the El Rey ER1 is really specific to jazz and the ER2 for jazz, jump blues and swing ... the new ER3 with its internal bridge block, carved maple top and wrap-around tailpiece has enough feedback rejection to cover anything but the heaviest of metal! Eastman has beefed up this model with a couple of Kent Armstrong high output pickups that will push the front end of your amp a bit for more aggressive tones but clean up nicely when you pull back on the throttle!
