| Eastman Strings has been building
violins and cellos for decades and in recent years has built a reputation
for crafting high-end arched top jazz guitars. We have recently
received very limited numbers of Eastman's new line of all solid wood,
true carved top & back mandolins.
The mandolin we're featuring
this morning is a top of the line MD815 F-style in Antique Red finish.
This is the same hand applied varnish that is used on the Eastman cellos,
with an added micro thin coat of lacquer on top. This instrument
is made with the same construction techniques that Lloyd Loar used on his
ground breaking F-5, including tone bar strutting, 13 7/8"
scale length and suspended fingerboard extension.
Like all Eastman products, the MD815
is reasonably priced but make no mistake about it, this is a top
notch sounding mandolin that rivals the established makers!!!
