| Fender introduced the Musicmaster and Duosonic
as their "student model" solidbody electric guitars in 1956 and followed
this with their "advanced student model" Mustang in August of 1964.
All three of these models were ultimately offered with a 21 fret 22.5-inch
(or 3/4 scale) neck, or a 22 fret 24-inch neck. In 1967 the Bronco
model was introduced to complete this line and was essentially a Musicmaster
with the pickup located near the bridge.
All of these models had been discontinued by 1981,
but in recent years musicians and collectors have once again discovered
these unique guitars!
The guitar pictured above is a Fender 1965
Reissue Mustang made in Japan that features the original on/off/phase slider
switches, mother-of-luncheon-counter pickguard, slab rosewood
fingerboard, offset waist body, "Dynamic" trem tailpiece assembly
and the popular 24" scale length! |
