Montreal luthier Michael Greenfield is a VERY busy guitar builder these days.  He stopped by our shop after his trip to a Paris France instrument making exposition and on his way to a guitar show in Michigan.   The demands on  the time of this world class luther are in direct relationship to his well earned reputation as a builder of the finest guitars using the finest materials.

Michael hand picks only seasoned Master Grade tonewoods.  He judges his soundboard's stiffness, flexibility and tap tone, then tailors it to the correct dimensions for that individual piece of wood to develop it's full potential.   The strength created by arching the top and braces enables thinning the sound board while preventing distortion of the wood.  This parabolic curved soundboard allows the use of thinner, more responsive tops while maintaining structural integrity.  His X-braces are cut from split billets of Adirondack spruce for the best strength to weight ratio and utilizes traditional hide glue to adhere his tone bars & bridge as it provides the best sound transfer.

The Greenfield necks are unique in that they are built up of multiple layers of stable wood and utilize a non-compressive double action truss rod that has carbon graphite rods inlaid either side, making an extremely stable neck and eliminating dead spots.

The model G-1 pictured above & below,  is an exquisite sounding guitar with some breathtaking aesthetic attributes.  This instrument features an incredible set of old growth Brazilian rosewood back & sides,  Master Grade Adirondack spruce top,  Laskin armrest,  double abalone spalted rosette,  gold Waverly precision tuners and radial back bracing.  This is one of those guitars that is just a dream to play and is candy to the ears!
