| Coming in every morning and playing guitars
like this is a tough job but someone's got to do it eh? I walked
in the office this morning and there is a case by my desk with a note attached
to it from Douglas Harrison informing me that he had completed his latest
Model GB. I open the case, sit down and play it for twenty
minutes and fall in love all over again. What a grueling start to
a guy's day. I'm going to burn out at this rate!
Mr. Harrison is yet another unbelievably
talented Canadian luthier who over achieves but is under promoted.
All of that is about to change with the upcoming 7 page spread devoted
to Harrison Guitars in the internationally distributed Just Jazz Guitar
Magazine written by guitar virtuoso Roy Patterson!
Douglas Harrison's dedication to the art
of luthiery over the last thirty years is evident in every detail of every
instrument he creates. Every line is crisp and well formed,
every detail is well thought out and not only attarctive to look
at but imminently functional as a part of this wonderful musical tool!
Mr. Harrison's Model GB has been adopted by many
professional jazz guitarists who are looking for that perfect blend of
acoustic/electric tone. The true carved & graduated spruce top
in conjunction with a hollow mahogany body with it's bridge sustain block,
provide a warm and woody note core that you get from a fully acoustic carved
top jazz box, combined with the even response and sustain of a solidbody.
This Harrison Model GB really does provide the best of both worlds in a
jazz context!
Plug this instrument in and start exploring the surprisingly
wide pallet of tones that you can achieve from the simple electronics harness
... the warm clarity of a Seymour Duncan "Jazz" pickup with Harrison's
own tone circuit that includes a push/pull control that initiates a very
musical series/parallel function! Like I said, if this
instrument doesn't get your jazz juices flowing then check your pulse (you
may already have expired!). |
