This morning we're introducing another in the Kenny Hill Master Series instruments. The Master Series is a collection of beautiful hand made classical and flamenco guitars based on the works of the finest builders in the history of guitar making. These are completely hand made by highly skilled craftsmen in the most venerable tradition of luthierie, and are made from the finest materials available worldwide.

The Madrid model we received last week is pictured above.  Our initial reaction, and that of some of our better professional customers, is that this guitar is an unusually responsive example of the Spanish school of guitar making as exemplified by Jose Ramirez I.  The sound is big, round, sweet and romantic, but with good articulation. The instrument is very strong in the upper registers, a characteristic not often found in Spanish made guitars of this modest price range. It is possible that the ultra thin French polish finish on the top has inhibited the modes of vibration less than if a traditional thicker finish was used.  The attention to detail with regards to all aspects of the craftsmanship is especially impressive and reflects the intimacy of the small 4 luthier workshop of it's origin. The 650 mm scale length makes this instrument an effortless conduit for the Romantic classical repertoire!
