| We are pleased
to announce our appointment as the exclusive Ontario retail representative
of the Hill Guitar Company of Felton California! World renown concert
guitarist, author, educator and luthier Kenny Hill produces a line of guitars
called the "Master Series"; a collection of beautiful hand made classical
and flamenco guitars based on the works of the finest builders in the history
of guitar making. These are completely hand made by highly skilled craftsmen
in the most venerable tradition of lutherie, and are made from the finest
materials available worldwide.
The various
influences of old masters such as Hauser, Fleta, Santos, Ramirez and others
insure designs that have been tried and proven by luthiers and concert
artists for generations.
The
Master Series offers the player a chance to own an instrument with the
musical and design characteristics that might otherwise be unavailable
due to scarcity or cost. Through these various models we are able to offer
instruments of an interesting range of musical and aesthetic personalities;
excellent concert guitars at very reasonable prices.
The "Munich"
model pictured above arrived last week and is built in the classic style
of Herman Hauser I. This model has excellent clarity, projection
and beauty of sound. The classic body shape makes it a very friendly guitar
to handle and a very comfortable instrument to play. The Engleman
spruce soundboard gives the guitar a precise sound with a complex &
shimmering overtone series, while the Indian rosewood back and sides give
a deep dimension and thickness to the lower midrange that is especially
pleasing. This particular guitar has a 650mm scale length (also comes
in 640mm) that makes it a pleasure to play.
Joseph Hauser was the first member of the Hauser family to make musical
instruments, but it was his son Hermann Hauser I (1882-1952) who became
recognized world-wide as one of the masters of lutherie. Hauser started
his career by building small bodied guitars similar to the mid nineteenth
century French instruments, as well as fabricating lutes, viols, zithers
and violins! Later, it was the influence of Torres and Ramirez that propelled
his progress and solidified his final evolution of the classic Hauser design
that Andres Segovia played in his concerts from 1930-1970! |
