| There are so many interesting and
unique aspects of this guitar to talk about but you know what? The
bottom line is ... this guitar sounds and plays GREAT!!! It
has all of the projection, power, balance, clarity and
sparkle that I just love in a flattop!
Obviously the very first thing that
stops you in your tracks with this instrument is the striking flamed Spanish
cedar top. I have never seen figure on this species as deep as this
piece! Mark has also built in a healthy radius to this top which
makes it so much stronger and more resonant. Why don't all builders
do that?
I am a very big fan of
this type of classic, unadorned look in a guitar. The ebony bound
fingerboard with side dots, the straight-pull tapered peghead with
ebony veneers front & back, the wood rosette and body binding
all add up to a very classy looking musical instrument!
Mark began his craft with a
guitar building course taught by master guitar builder Sergei de Jonge.
After his initial learning period Mark was asked to stay on as an apprentice
and course instructor for over three years. He is now building fine
instruments in Toronto and we are hoping to get more of instruments in
the future! |
