| Yes, I've
finally installed a set of the handmade Kinman Vintage Noiseless pickups
in my trusty old strat and I'm leaving it at the store so that everyone
can hear them. Actually, one of Toronto's premier studio aces returned
this guitar to me yesterday after borrowing it for an especially critical
recording date. He currently has the DiMarzio Virtual Vintage pickups
in his guitar, but in his words, "The Kinmans have to be about 30% better!
There is a much more natural high end."
I have to
admit that I was just going to temporarily install these pickups in my
guitar for demonstration purposes, but after 2 days of playing it I reached
into my pocket and coughed up the coin. These pickups are staying
in my strat for good!
I also have
a set of Kinmans in a 50's Tele reissue for demonstration purposes.
Very definitely worth putting an ear on!
Here's a list
of some of the Kinman sets we try to keep in stock.
AVn-Traditional Strat: consists of 2 AVn-56 pickups
with 5.75k dc resistance and an 'aged tone' vintage tone; the bridge pickup
in this set is an AVn-62 with 6.0k dc resistance and slightly more midrange
and output
AVn-Classic Strat: again, consists of 2 AVn-56 pickups but
with an AVn-59 bridge pickup with 6.4k dc resistance and slightly more
midrange and power than the '62
AVn-Blues Strat: this set has 2 of the AVn-62 pickups
(bluesy and fat) with the highest output SCn in the bridge position!
AVn-48 Tele: this set replicates the thicker hot output
of the late 40's Broadcaster pickup!
AVn-60's Tele: vintage early 60's Tele tone for that
chicken pick'in twang-tone
