| "A Guitar Maker's Canvas;
The Inlay Art of Grit Laskin" is a spare-no-expense, hardcover,
jammed full of colour photos, and most of all, CLASSY documentation
of the world's preeminent inlay artist and guitar maker.
This gorgeous 132 page
book is published by the prestigious Backbeat Books of San Francisco on
heavy, glossy paper stock with over 90 full colour plates depicting the
work of this unbelievably talented artist and artisan. Armed
with hand saws, old fashioned engravers and an incredibly fertile
imagination, William Laskin has created a whimsical new world full
of his personal flights of fancy, using the peghead and fingerboard
of his handcrafted guitars as a canvas.
As well as being visually appealing,
this publication includes both a very informative chapter on the history
of inlay work by 'the Duke of Pearl' Chuck Erikson and a 'how to' chapter
by William Laskin himself. This volume is worth the price simply
for the comprehensive look into the author's inlay techniques, tools and
materials.
I currently only have
the one copy (purchased at the book release party) but have another twenty
on the way (six of which are already sold!). If you have an interest
in purchasing this handsome book, email me and I will put your name
on the list and get back to you with final pricing. |
