When you have been selling high-end guitars
for twenty-seven years you start to lose count of some of the instruments
that have passed through. Having said that, there are still
a few exceptional pieces that will always stick in your mind. This
guitar by William Laskin is very definitely going to be one of them.

Where do you start to try and describe a
guitar like this! Of course my eyes were immediately drawn
to the stunning native indian 'Kwaikiutl Mask' inlay on the peghead.
William Laskin is undoubtedly the world's premier inlay artist in my mind.
This particular inlay features materials such as Lapis, Red Coral,
Rippled Awabi Shell, Gaspeite, Mother-of-pearl and Dix gold
and depicts a dramatic native indian ceremonial mask.
Have you ever seen a set of Brazilian rosewood
like this? The colours are extremely deep & rich with dramatic
grain and depth. The sculpted bridge and armrest contours combined
with the custom sound port and Florentine cutaway gives this body it's
own distinctive architecture while the mosaic rosette is a tip-of-the-hat
to traditional lutherie.
After playing this guitar for only a very
short period it is VERY apparent that this is a POWERHOUSE of a guitar.
The sound port on the upper bass bout lets the player hear the guitar without
having a negative impact on the projection out front. What can I
say? This guitar has power, balance, edge, sparkle,
complexity ..... well, EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
