| So why not use a real microphone?
Why all of this "Acoustic Sound Imaging" with fancy preamps, sliders,
knobs and batteries? One word people ... FEEDBACK!!! If you
use an external or internal mic in a live performance context, especially
with a band, it can be very difficult to achieve the volume levels
you need before initiating the feedback loop. Enter the Fishman Aura.
The Fishman Aura preamp is made to be used
in conjunction with a Fishman saddle pickup which has one of the highest
feedback rejection levels in the business. No matter how much of
the Aura mic emulation that you blend in, it does not lower your
feedback rejection!
So what the heck is an "Aura Acoustic Sound Image"
anyway? It is essentially a 2000 band graphic EQ that tweaks the
frequency response of an under-saddle pickup and transforms it into that
of a specific microphone pointed at your guitar (using Acoustic Spectral
Transform technology developed by Akai). Fishman goes one step further
and establishes the sonic "signature" of the Martin guitar that will be
fitted with this system, and optimizes the sound images specifically
for that model. I have to say that the Aura (either on-board or the
floor unit) is the best sounding acoustic guitar preamp I have heard to
date ... bar none!!!
The Martin DC-16RE Aura pictured above features
solid rosewood back & sides, solid ebony fingerboard & bridge,
Venetian cutaway body design, all gloss body finish AND the Fishman
Prefix Aura on-board system! This is a very affordable guitar
that is ready to gig!!! |
