| I am getting more and more requests for a mandolin
that cuts in a full band but has enough sweet midrange to fill out a duo
or trio. Well, I think Bruce Weber has the answer!
The Weber Custom Absaroka pictured above
is an intriguing mix of A-5 style crispness and A-4 warmth. The 14"
scale length definitely gives the initial strong attack and overall power
while the suspended fingerboard extension frees up much more of the top
to vibrate.
Most traditional oval-hole mandolins have a single
brace just below the soundhole. This custom Absaroka has a delicate
X-brace that supplies much more structural integrity without compromising
the immediacy of response. Add the oval soundhole for that
extra thickness in the midrange and you have a mandolin that covers a LOT
of sonic geography!!!
