| Dark Eyes | After Mario Maccaferri's departure, the Selmer Company
changed the soundboard bracing, scale length, and the soundhole design
of their original jazz guitar. Django Reinhardt adopted this new
model in 1937 and played it until his untimely death in 1953.
John Kinnard of Dell'Arte Guitars in San Diego has successfully reproduced the snappy treble response of these original "New Jazz Model" Selmer guitars, utilizing solid rosewood back & sides, solid spruce tops, mahogany necks with slotted peghead, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and original style pressed metal tailpiece. Fantastic sound projection and exceptional responsiveness define the Dark Eyes model! |
