Dobro Guitars, Canada

The history of the resonator guitar is long and convoluted. Originally created by John Dopyera in 1925, the resonator guitar was at first made by John and his brother Rudy, under the National name. Business disagreements led to John's resignation from National in 1928. In 1929 John created the Dobro resophonic guitar design, and began the company of the same name.

On November 12, 1993, the company was purchased by Gibson guitars, who are carrying on the tradition of fabricating world class resonator guitars of the highest quality.
