Here's a piece of real musical history - from 1928, a National Style 2 Tricone squareneck steel guitar!

The National String Instrument Corporation was founded in 1927 by John Dopyera and George Duchamp, to provide the loudest string instruments available. Even then, there were volume wars between guitars and the others on the stage - at that time, banjos and mandolins. The original design and all the earliest instruments were tricone models, and many carried this German Silver finish with fancy engraving.

This instrument dates to 1928 , with a serial number of 862. Its cones have been replaced with new Paul Beard spun Legend cones. During the 1930's, numbers were painted on the fingerboard to identify the frets. This could be removed but it's part of the instrument's history. Unusually, the National decal is intact!

A newer hard shell case is included.
