1972 Gallagher G70 Rosewood Dreadnought Guitar SOLD

If you are any kind of fan of bluegrass music, you've heard Gallagher guitars in the hands of players like Doc and Merle Watson. The Gallagher G70 is their standard Rosewood dreadnought guitar, built from their early days. Gallagher is now its third generation of operation, still building guitars for the Country and Bluegrass crowd.

The Gallagher G70 is based on the classic dreadnought design, using a Spruce top with Indian Rosewood for the back, sides and bridge, mahogany for the neck and ebony for the fingerboard.

These guitars are intended to be played for many years, so they are built a bit heavily and using radiused rather than thin tops. Consequently, they have to be played to really open up, and this one has definitely been through that process. It's got a full, focused sound with plenty of presence and articulation, without any 'boominess'. This is a really good sounding guitar. There is an amount of pick wear around the soundhole, and the saddle is fairly low but the action is good; it's been recently set up by The Twelfth Fret's repair shop. The finish is fairly worn, as would be expected from a guitar that's been well used. A non-original hardshell case is included.
