S/N: TI 3806, built during September of 1980 at Rickenbacker's plant in Santa Ana, California.
Rickenbacker introduced the model 4000 bass in 1958 to compete with Fender's dominant Precision bass. The Rickenbacker 4001s bass appeared between 1964 and 1985 as a two-pickup version. The 4001 is a fancier, two pickup version of the 4000, with extra binding.

The Rickenbacker 4001S bass features the distinctive Cresting Wave body shape introduced with the model 4000 by Roger Rossmeisl.

This JetGlo (gloss black) example dates to September of 1980 and was built at Rickenbacker's Santa Ana plant, like all of Rickenbacker's production. It is in very good condition with minor wear on the back aand around the edges. The original horseshoe pickup cover is included in the original black case.
