Epiphone's 1961 Casino turned out to be influential - the 1965 Casino was used by a somewhat famous guitarist in a band called The Beatles. Keith Richards used a Casino for a number of recordings and performances.

The Casino had a few changes over the years, notably shifting the neck joint from the 16th to the 17th fret. The Casino is fully hollow, like the Gibson ES-330 but unlike the Gibson ES-335, making it very resonant and very light, and well suited to rhythm guitar duities. Unfortunately the fully hollow body is susceptible to feedback at high stage volumes, so the Casino fell out of favour during the loudest passages of the Volume Wars.

For the 50th anniversary of the Casino, 2011, 1,961 Epiphone 1961 Casino TD 50th Anniversary models were built at Epiphone's Quingdao plant. This example dats to June, 2011 and is in excellent codnition. It has Gibson USA P-90 pickups and construction reflecting the 1961 lineup. A Gibson hardshell case is included.
