The Special Edition C. F. Martin CEO-7 hearkens back to the Golden Era instruments, and uses a 'Slope Shoulder' OO-size body, Adirondack Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides.

As part of the CEO series - Special Editions created by Martin's CEO - the Martin CEO-7 does not hew strictly to historic Martin designs. The CEO-7's smaller body with slope shoulders references mid-1930's Gibson guitars, specifically the L-00. The body uses tight-grained Adirondack Spruce for the top and bracing, and solid mahogany for the back, sides and neck. The fingerboard and bridge are Martin's traditional ebony, but the scale length is 24.9 inches, quite short for a Martin and much closer to Gibson's 24.75. The nut width is 1.75 inches.

The nitrocellulose lacquer finish is a lovely sunburst, and this is very traditional for this type of guitar. The sunburst, or solid colour, was often used to mask visual inconsistencies or 'defects' in the wood selection - and during the 1930's and 1940's, this was often an issue. However, these visual effects do not necessarily mean anything about tone - many of those guitars are great sounding. And now, of course, Martin uses premium woods, both visually and tonally.

This Martin CEO-7 was built in the early part of 2014 and is in very nice shape with only slight play wear. Fret wear is negligible. Its label identifies it as number 289 of the run of these guitars.

The original hard shell case is included.
