1933 Gibson Century TB-2 Tenor Banjo SOLD



Comments Here’s a wonderful 1933 Gibson ‘Century’ TB-2 Tenor Banjo.

The term ‘Century’ refers to the peghead and fingerboard overlay – these were installed to honor the 1933 ‘Century of Progress’ Exhibition held in Chicago.

This tenor banjo uses walnut for the neck, rim and resonator, and is in excellent working order; Grant has recently serviced and set it up.

Serial Number 9487030, built during 1933.
Pricing $3,500 CAD with original case.
Neck Walnut neck with bound fingerboard – featuring the Century of Progress type faux-pearl overlay on the fingerboard and headstock. There is a small chip on the headstock.
Frets Frets are in good condition. It’s likely that this instrument was refretted some time during its life.
Body Walnut resonator and rim, one piece flange with slight curl, good plating.
Finish Original nitrocellose lacquer finish, lots of play wear on back of neck and resonator.
Hardware/electronics Original hardware, one piece flange, new head. Grover planetary tuners.
Playability/Action Plays well – Grant has recently serviced and set up this instrument.
Case Original Gibson hardshell case (purple lining) included.
