Comments Here’s a 2012 Taylor T5X thinline electric, featuring an Ovankol top and Sapele back and sides. This is a fully hollow instrument, braced to provide an arched profile.

The T5X is based on Taylor’s successful T5 model, with the top made of Ovankol, an African relative of Rosewood. Here’s the Taylor page on the T5X

The 3-element pickup system makes this a very versatile and good-sounding instrument. The system is active, with a 9 volt battery access on the back. All of the electronics are very easily accessible.

Serial Number 1109270117, built during September, 2012 at the Taylor plant in El Cajon, California USA.

Neck Sapele neck with unbound ebony fingerboard and mother of pearl ‘snowflake’ position markers. The neck joint uses one bolt and a precisely milled joint for easy adjustment. 24 7/8″ scale length, 1 11/16 inch nut width, 15 inch fingerboard radius.
Frets Original frets with very minor wear.
Body Taylor Thinline body, built from an Ovankol top on a Sapele chambered back/side unit. The top is not completely flat, but is braced with a compound radius. F-type holes.
Finish Natural satin finish in very good condition.
Hardware/electronics Chrome hardsare – Taylor branded tuners and strap pins. T5 pickup system, using a stacked humbucker near the bridge, a hidden humbucker near the fingerboard, and a top sensor borrowed from the Expression System. 5-way switch, two active EQ controls and a volume control on the top.
