2013 Collings D2H-A Dreadnought Guitar (consignment) SOLD

Comments Here is a pristine 2013 Collings D2H-A Dreadnought. The -A designation means that this is a D2H – Dreadnought body size with 2 level decoration and Herringbone binding – with an Adirondack spruce top.

As with all Collings instruments, the build quality is stunningly good and the tone is even better. Collings dreadnoughts produce all the volume, presence, bottom end and mids you’d expect and have full sparkling highs.

Serial Number 21723, built during 2013 at the Collings shop in Austin, Texas.
Pricing $3,700.00 CND with original Collings case. SOLD
Neck Mahogany neck with unbound ebony fingerboard and 15 degree headstock angle. 25 1/2 inch scale length, 1 11/16 inch nut width, 14 inch to 26 inch compound radius fingerboard. Small abalone diamond-shaped inlays for position markers.

The neck features a square headstock with volute and modified V profile. Collings uses a Mortise and tenon hybrid neck joint – this couples a carefully fitted mortise and tenon with a pair of bolts, so that when decades of use mean it’s time for the inevitable neck reset, it’s a much easier task.

Frets Original 18% nickel-silver frets with no appreciable wear.
Body Based on the classic square-shouldered Dreadnought design, this 2013 Collings D2H-A features an adirondack spruce top on Indian Rosewood back and sides, and an ebony bridge. The bracing is Sitka spruce in a pre-war scalloped profile, and the binding is a combination of herringbone pattern and grained ivoroid. Faux Tortoise pickguard, mounted on top of the finish.
Finish Clear Gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish in excellent condition. Collings lacquer finishes tend to be very, very high quality with very little sinking.
Hardware/electronics All original hardware; nickel plated Waverly tuners, bone nut and saddle.
Playability/Action As with all Collings instruments, this guitar plays extremely well.
Case Collings hardshell archtop case included.
