Once in while, we come across an instrument or a concept that leaves many people scratching their heads in wonder. I always like seeing and hearing the quirkier side of music. The introduction of the Silhouette Bass guitar isn’t a new concept and in fact Fender introduced a “bass guitar” in the Sixties that appeared on many surf, country and rockabilly recordings. Since the introduction of heavier, avant garde artists like Godflesh, Non-Fiction, The Melvins, Meshugah, Entombed and the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, there has been a trend for guitarist to reach for even lower tones. More mainstream artists like prog rockers Dream Theater, The Deftones and King’s X have been known to employ the baritone guitar in their arsenal of sounds.

Wow the deep Candy red finish and Abalone pick guard on this Music Man
Stingray really pop! This great playing bass features an ash body, maple neck with rosewood
fretboard, compensated nut, Schaller tuners, matching headstock veneer and a powerful Music
Man humbucker with Alnico magnets and active three band eq. This example is in excellent
overall shape with only a minor ding on the top of the headstock and one on the back. This one
plays and sounds as good as it looks!

Music Man Stingray Fretless 1978 (Consignment) SOLD

Here is a 70’s Music Man Stingray bass which has been turned into a fretless bass. The maple neck has a black painted fretless epoxy fingerboard and the original fret lines still show a little bit. There is a fair bit of cosmetic wear and tear on the tobacco finish but the bass is in great overall shape and plays really well. The flatwound strings and Music Man humbucker give this bass a great thick and full sound!
