I can't remember the last time we had an original issue J-185 in our store for sale ... these models are rare (one of the lowest production totals from this era!) and even rarer in Natural finish!  You can tell by the great condition of the case that this instrument has not been taken out much ... which would account for its great condition!  Players LOVE the sound of the original issue J-185 because of the BIG sound that comes out of this unique body style ... and collectors love them for their rarity!

• Description:...  Juan Alberto Pantoja Martín has been building guitars since 1957, and has had his own shop since 1967. He has trained a number of luthiers, among them Frank Reijkers of the Netherlands and Maximiano Fontiveros Sola.  He works alone, using traditional methods and designs, building his guitars completely by hand. His flamenco guitars are vibrant and have been bought by such great guitarists as Paco de Lucia, Sabicas, Los Panchos and the Mariachis de Santa Rosa (Mexico).

• Description:... Bob Taylor is obviously a big a fan of Hawaiian koa ... and why not!  I love the midrange quality that this wood imparts and who can argue with the looks of a set like this ... MAN this is gorgeous stuff.  Add a high quality Engelmann spruce top and Taylor's typical flawless fit & finish and you've got another great model from Bob's El Cajon California workshop!

• Description:...  Talk about a chip off the block!  Joshia has been making guitars since she was knee high to a grasshopper in her father Sergei's shop.  She now has a very significant following of her own and a growing reputation built on her unerring attention to detail,  exceptional skill executing the very difficult French Polish finish ... and the sweet tone that she is able to pull out of the de Jonge stash of exotic woods!  This instrument is a very nice example of her work and features a tightly grained cedar top in conjunction with a beautifully grained Indian rosewood set highlighted by some dramatic spalting in the rosette ... not to mention a very expressive and sweet voice!
• Neck:...  50 mm / 2" wide polished bone nut;  ebony fingerboard;  650 mm scale length;  Spanish cedar neck

• Description:...  What can I say?  I would have had this page updated about a half hour ago,  but I love playing this thing so much ... well,  I've been "product testing" it for WAY too long this morning!  The Synchromatic archtops always had a ton of panache and this recent reissue is no exception ... very cool look with nice playability ... and both magnetic "electric" & piezo "acoustic" pickups with separate outputs so you can blend & mix to get your perfect tone!

• Description:... Anyone who has played an instrument from G. W. Barry knows what all the fuss is about.  This is a builder who is quietly fabricating some of the very best flattop steel string guitars in the world.  This particular instrument is a great sounding example of his cutaway Orchestra Model that has really matured wonderfully over the last few years ... and shows very little playing wear!
• Neck:... 1 5/8" wide bone nut;  radiused ebony fingerboard has ebony binding;  adjustable truss rod;  ebony peghead overlay is beveled to reveal European maple with side fillet;  tropical mahogany neck with very comfortable medium/low elliptical profile;  original Schaller M6 mini tuners with ebony buttons

• Description:... I've owned plenty of pre-CBS Fenders in my time,  but my favorite Strat that I've ever owned personally was a late '60s.  This instrument really reminds me of that guitar ... the finish is still nitro,  the contours are still deep,  the neck feels GREAT and the pickups sound quite nice indeed!
• Neck:... neck date reads 22SEPT68B;  original two patent number decal;  extra string tree has been removed;  original tuners;  very comfortable feeling med/low elliptical neck profile;  1 5/8" wide nut
• Frets:...  light wear only

Gibson's venerable "Electric Spanish" series ES-175 has been embraced by the jazz community since its introduction in 1949 with everyone from Jim Hall to Herb Ellis to Joe Pass have recording extensively with this model.  Here's an early '80s example that is in excellent condition,  well setup and ready to gig!
