This year The Twelfth Fret is celebrating our 31st anniversary in guitar retail and restoration. The store started in 1977 with Grant MacNeill and Dan Charman as partners. The emphasis at that time was on repairs, restoration and custom guitar building, with guitar sales as almost an afterthought.

Since 1990,  the Twelfth Fret has been owned by Grant MacNeill and David Wren.  Over the last thirty years our retail business has grown,  in part due to our internet presence.  With Grant providing his product expertise as well as his legendary customer service and David developing & maintaining the website,  the store is now shipping worldwide on a daily basis!

.
Service is still the cornerstone of the store. We are fortunate to have five full time guitar builders on site to handle everything from fabricating a new pickguard to restoring your favorite D'Angelico New Yorker or crafting the guitar of your dreams. Our facility is complete with a stationary power tool room and a spray booth. Logs literally come in the back door, and custom guitars go out the front! We have done work for everybody from Ed Bickert to the Rolling Stones. We are also a C.F. Martin  guitar warranty service center!

From the start our store has enjoyed a presence on the vintage scene.  An amazing array of instruments find their way to our address, partly because of our reputation for honesty and fair pricing and partly due to our extensive experience and knowledge with regards to historically significant guitars. We have been shipping guitars regularly to all parts of Canada and the U.S. as well as to Europe and Japan.

Hope you enjoy our site. Don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have.

Happy Surfing!

Grant and Dave

Email remains the best way to keep in touch with us but our response time can vary from several hours to several days. We receive as many as 200 emails a day and have a hard time keeping up.  Normally if you don't hear back from us in 2 or 3 days,  it is safe to assume that your email is buried deep in our In Box.  Simply email again to serve as a second reminder that you require a response and hopefully we will answer promptly ... or if that fails,  call us by telephone.  We check our voice mail every morning around 11:00 local time.
