DiMarzio Fast Track 2 Pickup DP182

To get some sense of the DiMarzio Fast Track 2, it’s best to think of it as a Strat®-sized version of the Super 3™, the pickup it most closely resembles. Using a 500K volume control will open up the top end, and DiMarzio recommend this value. The DiMarzio Fast Track 2 is a bridge-position pickup with powerful designed right in.  It’s not any bigger than a single-coil pickup, but the sound of the DiMarzio Fast Track 2 puts it right in the wide open, “everything-on-11” school. It’s got three times the output of an average single-coil, with a huge mid-range and bass punch and a strong resemblance to the Super 3™.

About DiMarzio

DiMarzio, Inc. (original name: DiMarzio Musical Instrument Pickups, Inc.) is a United States manufacturer best known for its direct-replacement guitar pickups. The company also produces miscellaneous guitar accessories, such as cables, straps and hardware. DiMarzio became known for its Super Distortion model, which was the first after-market replacement guitar pickup. It was introduced in 1972 and is still one of the most popular models. The Super Distortion pickup produced a higher electrical output than the pickups normally fitted as standard to guitars at the time. It has around twice the output of a PAF-type pickup, and stronger ceramic magnets. This drove the input stage of guitar amplifiers with roughly twice as much voltage as a PAF pickup, so that an overdriven distorted sound was easier to obtain.
