❌SOLD❌ Guild X170 Manhattan Archtop Electric Sunburst, 2001

The Guild X170 Manhattan was built at the Guild plant in Westerly, Rhode Island from 1995 until 2001 when Fender relocated the shop to Tacoma, Washington. Conceived as a jazz box, where function is key but classy looks are important, the X-170 Manhattan met all its targets. This Guild X170 Manhattan is in very nice, clean condition and plays really well.  Wear is very minor, and the usual first-worn spots – the bass end of the bridge and treble pickups, where one would rest on or touch the plating – don’t show much evidence of use.   Fret wear is very light and mostly limited to the first position.

❌SOLD❌ Larrivee OO Body Steel String Guitar Rosewood, 1976

Here is a lovely item from the past – a Larrivee OO body steel string guitar from 1976 in Toronto, just as The Twelfth Fret opened, with signatures from both Jean Larrivee (on the label) and Tony Duggan-Smith (discreetly engraved in the headstock inlay). At the time this guitar was built, I was just moving to The Twelfth Fret from the late Darryl Williams’ shop in Schomberg, Ontario, as the first Twelfth Fret employee.

❌SOLD❌ C F Martin D28 Dreadnought Acoustic Brazilian Rosewood, 1969

❌SOLD❌ C F Martin D28 Dreadnought Acoustic Brazilian Rosewood, 1969

ere we have a C F Martin D28, built in Nazareth, Pennsylvania in 1969. 1969 was officially the last year that Martin used Brazilian Rosewood for their Rosewood models, and in 1970 Indian Rosewood was in use. A few guitars were built with the dwindling stocks of Brazilian, eventually coming down to Brazilian being used for the center panel on the three-piece D-35 back. Brazilian Rosewood is used for the sides, back, and head plate.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES137 Thinline Archtop Electric Sunburst, 2004

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES137 Thinline Archtop Electric Sunburst, 2004

Built from 2002 to 2013 in Memphis as a limited production instrument, the Gibson ES137 is intended to bring together the sounds of an archtop and a Les Paul Classic. Two versions were produced – the Classic and Custom, with the key difference being that the Custom had an ebony fingerboard and a Varitone circuit. Gibson has long built archtop electric guitars, and the ES-137 takes cues from many older designs.

❌SOLD❌ C F Martin D28 Brazilian Rosewood, 1969

Here we have a C F Martin D28 with a beautiful set of Brazilian Rosewood for the sides and back, built during 1969 as one of the last production Martins with this wood. The Martin D28 was introduced in 1931 and has been in production since then. It has been a consistent favourite with performers and appeared on countless stages and recordings. This model features a Spruce top paired with Rosewood for the back, sides and headplate – orignally Brazilian but after 1969 as embargoes were put in place, Indian Rosewood.
