The Gibson L-00 Sustainable was a limited run instrument built during 2019 in Bozeman MT using sustainably harvested indigenous woods. The L-00 model was first built from 1932 to 1946, with a body shape influenced by ‘Parlor’ models. Ultimately its place in the lineup went to the LG2, which was produced from 1946 to 1962

Seen here is an attractive Gibson Les Paul Standard in Honeyburst, in very good, clean condition and dated to January 2020 at Nashville. Built in the manner of a 1960 model, this Gibson Les Paul Standard uses an AA grade, bookmatched and carved Flame Maple top on a Mahogany back, with no weight relief. The 60’s Slim Taper neck is Mahogany with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard and acrylic trapezoidal position markers.

This wonderful and pristine Fender LTD 51 Telecaster NOS (New Old Stock) Blonde model shows off what the Custom Shop can do, subtly mixing vintage features with modern advancements. This Fender LTD 51 Telecaster NOS guitar started with a two-piece Ash body in the 1951 ‘NoCaster’ style and ‘NoCaster Blonde’ finish and an AA-grade quarter sawn Flame Maple 51 style neck. From there, the neck received a compound radius – 7.25 to 9.6 inch radius – tall narrow frets (Dunlop 6105 style), a 19/56 ‘V’ profile, and a bone nut.

Here we have the wonderful and very well preserved Ignacio M Rozas No. 114 classical guitar, built in Madrid during 1991 at Calle Mayor 66, a few doors from the Contreras shop. Ignacio M Rozas began building guitars in 1959, at age 16 as an apprentice to Jose Ramirez III and worked with him until 1969.

From time to time we see spectacular examples of functional art, such as this Manuel Contreras Doble Tapa guitar, built in Madrid during 1990. Manuel Contreras’ career was spent in Madrid, Spain. For many years he was a respected cabinet-maker, but in 1959 began to work with Jose Ramirez III. In 1962 he opened his own workshop at Calle Mayor 80. The shop is now at Calle de Segovia, 57.
