❌SOLD❌ Epiphone John Lennon Revolution Casino 1803 of 1965 Natural, 2006

This Epiphone John Lennon model was favoured by a number of prominent British guitarists during the early-mid 1960s, notably Keith Richards and three members of the Beatles. While both Paul McCartney and George Harrison had personal Casinos, John Lennon’s 1965 model is better known, especially in its stripped-down form.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson J-160E Steel String Acoustic Electric Sunburst, 1966

❌SOLD❌ Gibson J-160E Steel String Acoustic Electric Sunburst, 1966

The Gibson J-160E is one of the most recognisable steel string guitars, due largely to a series of recordings and performances during the early 1960s by The Beatles. Both John Lennon and George Harrison had J-160E models, while McCartney used an Epiphone Texan strung as left handed. Though it looks a lot like the traditional classic J-45 round shoulder dreadnought, the Gibson J-160E has major structural differences. First, because the design goal was to reduce feedback at high stage volumes, the guitar body is entirely laminate, including the top. Rather than X-braced, the top is strongly Ladder braced.

❌NO LONGER AVAILABLE❌ Gibson ES-330 TD Thinline Archtop Guitar Sunburst, 1963

Built at the Kalamazoo, Michigan plant during 1963, this Gibson ES-330 TD is in overall good, complete and original condition. It has been played and used as intended so the finish has some minor wear and lovely natural checking, with moderate to heavy fret wear in some positions. Overall it’s in good shape with wear in the expected areas; it has not been abused or neglected though it’s definitely seen use.   It is currently strung with flat wounds.

The Casino was very important in the Epiphone line during the 1960’s, and was introduced to compete with the Gibson ES-330. In 1965, a member of an obscure band known as “The Beatles” – Paul McCartney – began using one for studio work – and John Lennon and George Harrison got theirs in 1966. This tobacco sunburst model became Lennon’s main guitar, and was later sanded and refinished natural. A few years ago, Gibson released two US-made versions of this guitar, in sunburst and natural (as the “Revolution” model) in a total production run of 1,965 pieces, and now has released the “Inspired by John Lennon” versions, which are much more affordable, yet still really good instruments.
