Sergei de Jonge Classical Guitar Natural, 1981 / *No Longer Available*

This Sergei de Jonge Classical guitar was built during 1981 in Toronto, following de Jonge’s return to Canada from a year in Holland and creation of a new workshop. Having learned guitar building in Toronto during the years 1969 to 1971 from Jean Larrivee and Edgar Monch via Eli Kassner, and then a year with Patt Lister in Collingwood, this de Jonge classical shows these strong influences.

Now retired, David Wren worked with Jean Larrivee in the mid 1970s and, along with others from the same group like William ‘Grit’ Laskin and Linda Manzer, became one of the premiere Canadian guitar builders. The Godin 5th Avenue archtop model was introduced at the 2008 NAMM show, it was a surprise hit given that this type of guitar has been seen on fewer stages since the early 1960s. Since then, the 5th Avenue has been seen in a number of variations with different pickup configurations, with and without Bigsby True Vibrato tailpieces, with and without cutaways, and in a host of finishes. Seen here is the Godin 5th Avenue Edition Speciale PT sporting an Indigo Blue finish.
