❌SOLD❌ Martin D-42 Purple Martin Dreadnought #38 of 50, 2018

Here is a spectacular rarity – the Martin D-42 Purple Martin, #38 of 50 built during 2018 and featuring a fantastic inlay set. Based on the classic Dreadnought design and pairing a bearclaw-figured Englemann Spruce top with Katalox for the sides and back, this is an example of Martin’s work at its finest. Katalox, sometimes known as ‘Mexican Royal Ebony’ and formally named ‘Swartzia cubensis’, is a hardwood sourced from southern Mexico to northern South America.

❌SOLD❌ Martin M-36 Steel String Guitar Natural, 2012

❌SOLD❌ Martin M-36 Steel String Guitar Natural, 2012

The Martin M-36 is based on the very successful Martin M, or 0000 ‘Quadruple O’ size body. This is larger than any of the single to triple 0 size bodies, yet smaller than a dreadnought; consequently it is fairly loud with great projection, and has a very evenly represented tone and is very comfortable to play. It’s ideal for solo performers but fits well into ensembles and extremely well into recording situations.

❌SOLD❌ Martin 0-18 Steel String Guitar Natural, 1965

Introduced in 1898, discontinued in 1996 and reissued in 2017, the Martin 0-18 is one of the oldest, longest produced guitar designs. It hasn’t changed much over the decades. In 1934 the most notable change occurred with the shift to the 14-fret neck, following the lead of the then-recently introduced OM or Orchestra Model. The next change was in 1947 with the use of Rosewood instead of Ebony for the fingerboard and bridge.

Only 18 of that model had been built.

❌SOLD❌ Martin 000-42 Standard Series Steel String Guitar Natural

This is a beautiful Martin 000-42 Standard Series, a spectacular sounding instrument with just the right amount of inlay. The 000 body size was introduced in 1902 with a 12-fret, 24.9 inch scale length neck  and in 1934 gained the ‘new’ 14-fret neck.   The OM or Orchestra Model is based on this guitar, but with a 14-fret, 25.4 inch scale length neck. The ’42’ in the name refers to the Style 42 materials and inlay set, introduced in 1858, and discontinued in 1943.

❌SOLD❌ Martin D-35 Dreadnought Steel String Guitar Natural, 1973

❌SOLD❌ Martin D-35 Dreadnought Steel String Guitar Natural, 1973

The Martin D-35 Dreadnought first appeared in 1965, partly as a way to use the remaining stock of Brazilian Rosewood sections that were too small for a two-piece back. Drawing from the very successful D bodied Dreadnought, the Martin D-35 was placed between the venerable D-28 and more expensively decorated D-41 and D-45 models.
