❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus Top Heritage Cherry Burst, 2007

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus Top Heritage Cherry Burst, 2007

Gibson has been quietly building Les Paul Standard Plus Top since about 2002, with the ‘Plus’ referring to the quality and amount of figure on the carved Maple top. Many of these models are also weight relieved, with slimmer ‘1960s’ profile necks and are very good instruments, not just beautiful pieces of functional art. Here we’re treated to a pristine Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus Top with Heritage Cherry sunburst finish. This guitar dates to June 27th, 2007 at the Nashville plant – before the devastating floods.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Byrdland Thinline Archtop Electric Natural, 1991

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Byrdland Thinline Archtop Electric Natural, 1991

The Gibson Byrdland thinline archtop electric appeared in 1955 and represents a functional adaptation to traditional archtop electrics. Two top Nashville session players, Billy Byrd and Hank Garland were approached by the Gibson president, Ted McCarty for ideas on new products. As busy players, Byrd and Garland wanted a shorter scale length of 23.5 inches to allow complex, extended chord shapes.

This Gibson Les Paul Studio Lite from 1992! Built between 1987 and 1998 at the Gibson Nashville plant, the Les Paul Studio Lite features classic Les Paul construction, but without binding, and with an ebony fingerboard. As its name implies, the Les Paul Studio Lite is weight relieved, and this example, dating to September 10th, 1992 sits on the scale at a svelte 7.8 pounds. It also has a 1960’s slim taper neck, quite a bit smaller than modern profiles. Hardware is gold plated, with coverless Gibson 490R and 490T pickups.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES-359 Limited Edition Inverness Green, 2010

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES-359 Limited Edition Inverness Green, 2010

The Gibson ES-359 is related to the ES-339 in the same way that the ES-355 relates to the ES-335 – in the most part, more complex binding, an Ebony fingerboard, and mother of pearl block position markers. Structurally, they use the same core design and construction.Like the other ES-3×5 and 3×9 models, the ES-359 uses a thinline body of Maple laminate with a Maple center block to suppress feedback. The neck is Mahogany, with a bound Ebony fingerboard. The body and head binding are more elaborate than the lower models, with multi-layer binding on the top (7 layer) and front of the head (5 layer), while the back gets 3-layer binding treatment.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson SG Standard Natural Mahogany, 1977

The Gibson SG Standard appeared, named as such, in 1963 though it had been available for two years as the radically redesigned Les Paul Standard. It has remained in production since then, with a number of variations- some subtle, others less so.Here we’re looking at a nice Gibson SG Standard built during 1977, likely at the Nashville Tennessee plant. This was during the Norlin era, and the back of the head features a ‘Volute’ typical of that time, added to help increase head strength.
