❌SOLD❌ Fender Stratocaster Trans Red Maple Neck, 1979

❌SOLD❌ Fender Stratocaster Trans Red Maple Neck, 1979

Here’s a Fender Stratocaster Trans Red with Maple Neck, built during the CBS in Fullerton, California, in good clean condition and a fairly rare colour. If you count the Broadcaster/Telecaster and Esquire as one basic design and the revolutionary 1952 Precision Bass as another, the Stratocaster was Leo Fender’s third complete Spanish style guitar design, though he also built a number of Hawaiian or Steel guitar models. Immediately successful, the Strat has stayed in production since its 1954 introduction.

❌SOLD❌ Music Man Sabre Bass Sunburst, 1978

❌SOLD❌ Music Man Sabre Bass Sunburst, 1978

Here’s a rarity and bit of history – a Music Man Sabre Bass, built during 1978 in Fullerton, California by CLF Research for Music Man. CLF stood for Clarence Leo Fender. Music Man was founded in 1974 and in 1975, Leo Fender’s non-compete agreement lapsed and he became president of Music Man. Until 1979, Music Man guitars and basses were built by Leo’s other company, CLF Research. After 1979 and until Music Man folded in 1984, Grover Jackson built the bodies and necks and assembled the instruments.

❌SOLD❌ Fender Tele Sonic Chambered Solidbody Sunburst, 2003

❌SOLD❌ Fender Tele Sonic Chambered Solidbody Sunburst, 2003

The Fender Tele Sonic was built from 1998 to 2003, combining elements of several classic designs – the construction methods of the Fender Telecaster, the scale length of a Gibson style guitar, and a pair of DeArmond 2K single coil pickups, like a Gretsch Jet. There are other notable differences from stock models to the Fender Tele Sonic. The body is Honduran Mahogany, with tone chambers added. This would typically mean that, like the Telecaster Thinline, the top of the body blank is sliced off, tone and wiring chambers routed, the cap is restored and the body finished.

❌SOLD❌ Fender Limited Edition Two Tone Telecaster Thinline Fiesta Red Top, 1999

❌SOLD❌ Fender Limited Edition Two Tone Telecaster Thinline Fiesta Red Top, 1999

Fender from time to time delivers Limited Edition models, like this Fender Limited Edition Two Tone Telecaster Thinline with bound Fiesta Red top, white finished back, and Rosewood fingerboard!  These were built in small numbers, and are not common to see in catalogs or promotions.  In the late 1960, Fender’s hunt for new designs continued and this led to the hiring of German luthier Roger Rossmeisl, who had been responsible for a number of Rickenbacker’s most successful semi-hollow models and the ‘Cresting Wave’ shape.

❌SOLD❌ Fender Stratocaster Left Handed Made In Japan Blonde, 1987

❌SOLD❌ Fender Stratocaster Left Handed Made In Japan Blonde, 1987

It’s unusual to see a Fender Stratocaster in Left Handed form, from the start of the ‘New’ Fender era when much of Fender’s production was Made in Japan. Here, we have a Fender Stratocaster Left Handed built during 1987 at the FujiGen Gakki plant in Nagano, in Blonde finish with Rosewood fingerboard. The original pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncan models, and the original pick guard with a faux-tortoise unit. This really works well with the Rosewood fingerboard.

❌SOLD❌ Fender Custom Shop G E Smith Telecaster Blonde, 2012

❌SOLD❌ Fender Custom Shop G E Smith Telecaster Blonde, 2012

The Fender Custom Shop G E Smith Telecaster is a very straight ahead instrument, using the classic early 1950’s fatter maple neck on swamp ash body, with flat-head screws, instead of Philips screws. The pickups are American Vintage models, while the bridge plate is cut back to expose the pickup cavity; the pickup itself is bolted to the body. Smith feels that this contributes to an increased ‘fatness’ in the bridge pickup tone. The inlays draw from Fender lap steels, which Smith also plays.
