❌SOLD❌ Gibson F2 Oval Hole Mandolin Sunburst, 1915

❌SOLD❌ Gibson F2 Oval Hole Mandolin Sunburst, 1915

Built from 1904 to 1934, the Gibson F2 Oval Hole mandolin featured the stylized ‘F’ body with scrollwork, but also an oval sound hole rather than F-holes. Oval sound holes seem to provide a bit more sound to the player, while F-hole models tend to project their sound outwards, further. It’s always fascinating to see an instrument like this Gibson F2 Oval Hole mandolin that dates to 1915, now over a century old and still in good playing condition. It is in largely original condition, though the original faux-tortoise pickguard is missing. The case is a newer lightweight model by Gator.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson GoldTop Les Paul P90s, 1968

❌SOLD❌ Gibson GoldTop Les Paul P90s, 1968

The Gibson GoldTop Les Paul first appeared in 1952 and was replaced in 1958 with the sunburst. The original design was dropped in 1961 and re-appeared in 1968. Until the 1954 introduction of the Custom, and 1955 Junior and Special, there was only one model – the Les Paul, available only with the Gold Top finish. The name ‘Les Paul Standard’ launched with the 1959 Sunburst, and along with the Custom model, continued through the transition to the SG body design. By 1968, demand for the Les Paul had increased dramatically, largely due to young Blues-Rock players like Keith Richards, Mike Bloomfield, and Eric Clapton.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson CF100E Tamio Okuda Electric Acoustic, 2014

❌SOLD❌ Gibson CF100E Tamio Okuda Electric Acoustic, 2014

Here we have another fairly rare guitar, at least for North America – a Gibson CF100E Tamio Okuda model, cutaway with P90 and in very good condition. For those in Japan, Tamio needs no introduction. One of Japan’s most popular guitarist/singer/producer/songwriters, Tamio Okuda has had an almost 30-year career in the Japanese scene. The Gibson Custom Shop CF100E Tamio Okuda  model was built as a limited edition model during 2014, based on Tamio Okuda’s own 1950’s guitar.  The top is solid Sitka Spruce, the back, sides and neck are mahogany (the profile copies Tamio’s guitar) with a rosewood fingerboard.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Florentine Korina, 1996

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Florentine Korina, 1996

Here is another rarity, a Gibson Les Paul Florentine Korina, Custom Shop built and with two features making it most unusual – the Korina top and the lack of F holes. This limited edition model, which later became the Les Paul ES, featured a heavily rooted Mahogany body and separate top, in this case Korina or Black Limba though many had heavily figured Maple tops. Most of the production had F holes, making sense given the nearly hollow body, but a few like this one have closed tops.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson ES 275 P90 Thinline Archtop Electric, 2017

Here’s a very nice, discontinued and rare Gibson ES 275 P90 model from the now-closed Memphis Gibson shop, featuring a fully hollow body and a pair of MHS P90 pickups. Built like a traditional archtop but with a thin body and the appearance of a vintage model, the Gibson ES 275 P90 uses a Maple Laminate body with Mahogany for the body blocks and neck, Indian Rosewood for the fingerboard and pinned bridge base, vintage style 3-diamond tailpiece and knobs, and a Script Gibson logo.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson 1958 Les Paul Junior Double Cut Historic Reissue TV White, 2004

Here’s a Gibson 1958 Les Paul Junior Double Cut Historic Reissue in TV White, built during 2004 at the Nashville Custom Shop.
