Comments From the 1950’s, The Gretsch company had a long association with Chet Atkins, and a number of models bore his name and the ‘Country Gentleman’ label. Later, the artist endorsement moved to Gibson, and Gretsch no longer had the rights to either the name or the label.

With the resurrection of the Gretsch company, many of these classic models came back into production, and in 2002, Fred W. Gretsch joined forces with Fender to provide support and distribution. Quality has never been as consistently high as during this period. And in 2007, rights to the Chet Atkins and Country Gentleman names were recovered.

This 1999 Gretsch G6122-62 Country Classic II is based on the 1962 Country Gentleman model, but without the mechanical mutes (or the legal permission to call it a Country Gentleman). It is in pristine condition, hardly played at all, and still has the protective paper on the pickguard and Bigsby arm.

Serial Number 999122620993, built during 1999 in Japan at the Terada plant.
Pricing $1,750.00 CAD with original case.
Neck Maple neck with bound ebony fingerboard, zero fret, 24.6 inch scale length,
Frets Original frets with no wear.
Body Double cutaway ‘Electrotone’ hollow body with tone bars and faux F-holes for feedback resistance; 17 inch body width and maximum body depth of 2 inches. This model uses the longer tenon at the neck joint.
Finish Gloss walnut finish in near-perfect condition.
Hardware/electronics Completely original – down to the protective paper on the pickguard and the paper cover for the Bigsby arm (removed for photos). Gold hardware, Gretsch branded tuners, dual Hi-Sensitive Filter ‘Trons with ceramic magnets, gold rocker bridge, gold B6 Bigsby with Gretsch logo and paddle arm, gold Gretsch G-Arrow knobs; master volumem individual volumes, pickup selector, tone selector, mute switch. Original backplate pad. This model does not have the mechanical string mutes, but because the F-holes are decorations, the wiring is accessed through the panel underneath the backpad.

Case Original hardshell case in 9/10 condition.
