❌SOLD❌ Collings I-35LC Thinline Archtop Electric Sunburst, 2011

Built in Austin Texas, the Collings I-35LC is an exceptionally well built expression of the semi-solid thinline archtop design introduced by Gibson in 1958. These models were the first guitars to address the needs of players who sought archtop tone and responsiveness yet had to play at ever higher stage volumes.

The Collings I-35LC uses a custom Maple laminate for the body with a solid Maple center block mated to a Mahogany neck with Rosewood fingerboard. Current versions of this model have bound fingerboards, but on this 2011 model the fingerboard is unbound. A pair of Lollar Imperial low-wind humbuckers are installed, and the hardware configuration follows the original design – a pickup selector, individual volume and tone controls, Tone Pros tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece, and Gotoh tuners with ivoroid buttons.

The finish is a nitrocellulose lacquer tobacco sunburst, and like every other Collings I’ve seen, is very well done.

This guitar is in very good, clean condition with light wear.

The original Collings case, made by Armitage, is included.

“The I-35 LC is the result of a custom laminated construction technique that Bill Collings and his R&D team developed in pursuit of the best tonal qualities of vintage semi-hollow guitar design. When crafting instruments designed to be used electrically at higher volumes, the resonant qualities of a guitar need a high degree of focus to achieve some of the classic semi-hollow guitar tones.

The I-35 LC is the first of a line of laminate instruments designed to respond acoustically in perfect harmony with their electronics. Custom crafted in house for each guitar, the Collings laminate line has provided another unique way for us to voice our instruments for superior response and tone.
