❌SOLD❌ Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay Bass White, 2014

Brand:

Instrument Categories: , ,

Built during 2014 and naturally in a gloss white finish this Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay Bass was the first instrument produced in 1976 by the then-new Music Man company, part owned by Leo Fender.

The Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay Bass is a full scale length, 34 inch 4 string bass with an Ash body and bolt-on Maple neck; both Maple and Rosewood fingerboards, as with this example, are available. The StingRay features a single humbucking AlNiCo magnet pickup in the bridge position, and an active 3-band EQ running off a single 9-volt battery, accessible via a small door on the back. The short headstock is typical of the Music Man design – at least one tuner is shifted to the treble side to reduce the length of the head, and improve overall weight distribution and balance.

This StingRay bass features a gloss white finish and faux Tortoise pickguard. It is in very good condition with very light wear and new strings. The original Ernie Ball Music Man case is included.

Ernie Ball Music Man instruments are built in San Luis Opisbo, USA.  The Music Man lineup started in 1971 as a joint venture between Leo Fender, Tom Walker and Forrest White, originally under the name Tri-Sonix but by 1974 was formally named Music Man.   Its first product was amplifiers, and they had a number of prominent endorsements, including Eric Clapton.    One of their first big ads was Clapton holding a Gibson Explorer plugged into one or three  Music Man stacks;  in a concurrent interview he said that Cream could have used Music Man amps.  Johnny Winter and Albert Lee also used these amps.   In 1976 the first basses appeared, the StingRay.    By 1984, however, the original Music Man company folded due to low sales and was sold to Ernie Ball.
