Hermanos Camps Primera Flamenco Blanca Guitar, 2021

Brand:

Instrument Categories: ,

Here is a lovely Hermanos Camps Primera Flamenco Blanca Guitar, built in Porqueres Spain during 2021 and in very good, clean condition.

Hermanos Camps is run by the Camps brothers Jordi and Javier, succeeding their father Juan who started building guitars in Porqueres – about 120km northeast of Barcelona – in 1945. They offer a full range of classical and flamenco models in two lines – the Guterres Camps Models and the Hermanos Camps Signature Models.

The Hermanos Camps Primera Flamenco Blanca is built largely in the traditional manner with a Spruce top, Cypress for the back and sides, Spanish Cedar (Cedrela odorata), Ebony for the fingerboard and Indian Rosewood for the head plate and bridge. The nut and compensated saddle are bone, and Schaller tuners are installed at the head (rather than the traditional Flamenco wooden friction pegs). The neck has a lightweight carbon fiber stiffener – in previous years Ebony would be used for this. The top sports a full golpeador – tap plate – and there is a very practical section of the same material behind the bridge tie-block to prevent the strings from marking the top.

As a Primera model, it has been inspected and tested by noted Flamenco artist and educator Manuel Granados, and there is a secondary label with his signature.

This example is in very good, clean condition and while its voice is not fully developed through playing, it has definite presence and projection, and a bright yet warm tone. As typical for Flamenco instruments, the action is fairly low with a small amount of string rattle when played vigorously.

The original hard shell case is included.

Here is the builder’s comment on the Hermanos Camps Primera Flamenco Blanca:

“Flamenco guitar incredibly comfortable and light. The luthiers have collaborated with acclaimed flamenco performer and pedagogue Manuel Granados who tests and certifies each instrument before it leaves their premises.
Its greatest achievement is playability: the neck is exceptionally ergonomic and strengthen with a carbon truss rod, and flamenco action with just the right amount of sizzle from controlled fret-buzz.
Concerning the tone, separation between voices is superb and is achieved without the loss of warmth. It also has enormous power as well as quick flamenco-like response giving it great bounce and instant presence. “
