Gibson ES-295 1956 (consignment) SOLD

Gibson ES-295 1956 (consignment) SOLD

This is an incredibly cool guitar. There aren’t a lot of ES-295’s around; they were supplanted by the ES-175, which is a very similar guitar but with humbuckers. As an excellent rockabilly guitar, the ES-295 was famously played by Scotty Moore in Elvis Presley’s band fronm 1952 to 1955. This example, while refinished long ago, is in good playable shape and is ready to rumble!

Epiphone Texan FT-79 1966 (consignment) SOLD

Epiphone Texan FT-79 1966 (consignment) SOLD

This wonderful old piece is still very playable. Epiphone Texans of this period were fully pro-level guitars, and indeed were the most expensive slope-shoulder model in the Gibson line. You can hear them on many Beatles tunes after 1964; one of the most famous examples is Yesterday. The slope shoulder design slightly reduces the amount of bottom end, evening out the tonal response. Overall, this is a great guitar with a great sound, and a place in musical history.
