This Factory Special Run (FSR) version of the Hot Rod Deluxe III features a beautiful tweed/tolex cover combination, and a Celestion Vintage 30 12” speaker. We only have one of these bad boys in stock!

The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe has earned its reputation as one of the all-time greatest workhorse guitar amplifiers. In fact, I rarely walk into a club without seeing at least one of these amps on stage! Its design is simple, yet versatile. 40 Watts of power running through a single 12-inch speaker, making the amplifier more than loud enough for any club gig, but portable enough to get it there. A thick, robust clean channel is complimented by a crunchy, screaming overdrive channel to cover everything from jazz, to country, blues, pop, rock, and beyond. A 2 button footswitch allows you to switch from clean to crunch, or engage the overdrive booster. Throw in Fender’s legendary spring reverb and an effects loop for good measure, and you are left with a truly impressive amplifier.

Now in its 3rd generation, the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III features subtle improvements over its predecessor across the board. The clean channel has a slightly thicker bass response, but stays tight at high volumes. The overdrive channel has received some love as well. The upper frequencies have a sharper edge to them now. Treble notes don’t fuzz-out the way they sometimes used to. This gives the amp a more defined overall tone when overdriven. I’ve also noticed a slight evening-out to the volume taper. The Hot Rod Deluxe III doesn’t seem to jump quite as sharply as you move the volume between 0 and 2. While the amp is definitely geared around stage use, it is now a more practical choice for home use as well.
