|Comments||Every once in a while a new guitar shape that appears that works – but really, not very often. Enter the Ernie Ball Music Man Armada, an all-new instrument.
This striking instrument features a through-neck design and a unique body shape with a bound and carved V-shaped insert. On this model, the insert has a metallic gold finish; a translucent finish over figured maple is also available.
I notice that as stock, the strings are run from the pickup side of the tailpiece, and wrap over its top to the bridge, rather than loading from the back and up to the bridge. This is a trick Duane Allman used; it provides a smaller amount of breakover at the saddle without forcing the tailpiece to go up a long way, too far to double as a palm rest!
This is a very interesting guitar and worth checking out.
