2000 Marc Beneteau Cutaway Classical Crossover SOLD

This is a beautiful and well-preserved piece – a 2000 Marc Beneteau cutaway classical crossover, featuring very nicely figured cocobolo sides and back and a cedar top. It has almost no wear; the finish has sunk into the wood, which is a natural part of aging, and that’s pretty much the only sign that this isn’t a new instrument.

Of course, this guitar does more than look good.

The crossover concept is a natural for the classical guitar. A lot of latin guitar music is played with classical style instruments, but these can present challenges for players who are coming from steel string instruments or who have to play multiple types of instrument. The crossover uses a narrower neck than a traditional classical (this is 47mm, compared to the pretty standard 52mm classical width) with a radiused fingerboard like a steel string.

Most crossovers also feature cutaways, and this is working back into the traditional classical models. Major builders like Ramirez and Alhambra now offer cutaways in otherwise standard instruments.

Serial Number: N/A, built during 2000 at Marc Beneteau’s shop in St. Thomas, Ontario.

Pricing: $3,600.00 with hardshell case. SOLD
