S/N: 1073828, built during 2005 at the C F Martin plant in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.
Here we have one of the last guitars of its kind, a 2005 Martin GE Golden Era. These were built as a special edition D-28 Herringbone by the Martin Custom Shop from 1999 to 2005 using the last of Martin's pre-CITIES Brazilian Rosewood stock, and when the supplies ran out, production ended. These are spectacular guitars, with scalloped, forward shifted Adirondack Spruce Golden Era bracing.

The Martin D-28 GE Golden Era is based on a 1930's D-28, with 14-fret neck, herringbone binding, Adirondack Spruce for the top and braces, Brazilian Rosewood for the back, sides and headplate, Mahogany for the neck and ebony for the fingerboard and bridge. The body is bound, but the fingerboard is not. The neck has a 1930's V profile, the nut width is 1.75 inches and the scale length is a Martin standard 25.4 inches.

Martin's supply of pre-CITIES Brazilian Rosewood ran out in 2005, so this guitar is one of the last built. It is not likely that production with Brazilian will ever resume. This example, identified on the label as number 525, is in very good original condition and comes with the original case, and the original Martin documentation.
