La Esperanza guitars were built from the mid to late 1970s and aimed to the working professional or very serious student of classical guitar.
As a company, Masaru Matano founded a shop in 1962 in Kurume, Fukuoka, Japan. The current form of this shop is Asturias, which employs 15 luthiers.
