The Samick Music Corporation was founded in 1958 by Hyo Ick Lee and initially operated as a Baldwin Piano importer for the Korean market, but in two years they were producing their own pianos.
By 1965 they were building acoustic guitars for the Korean and export market, and have grown to one of the largest instrument manufacturers in the world.
