Yates Banjos are built in Warren Yates’ shop in Hickory, North Carolina, a bit northwest of Charlotte. The focus is on reproducing the tone and feel of 1930’s banjos.
Warren Yates has been building since 2005 and while he has built other instruments, his main production is the instrument he plays, the banjo.
Yates banjos are so good at reproducing the pre-war tone, that some pre-war players have retired their authentic instruments in favor of the Yates.
