The Twelfth Fret ~ Since 1977 ~

❌SOLD❌ Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Amp Made in USA, 2001

Brand:

The 40-watt 1×12 Fender Hot Rod Deluxe appeared in 1996, following the successful Blues Deluxe and until 2002 was built at the Fender plant in Corona, California; they are now built in Ensenada, Mexico.

The HRD, or Hot Rod Deluxe, is a single channel anmp based on a combination of 12AX7 preamp and 6L6 power amp tubes delivering 40 watts through a single 12 inch Fender-branded speaker built by Eminence. It’s been very popular over the years and is now in its fourth major version.

40 watts is a decent amount of power, and can be quite loud. At a club in Nashville we saw an SRV tribute, with an HRD in use, but mic’d and paired with a plexiglass baffle a few inches in front of it. This allowed the guitarist to turn the amp up to its ‘sweet spot’, which sounded great, but also allowed the house sound system to handle dispersion. In front of the stage or to the side, the mix was even, and the wait staff could still correctly hear the order you placed.

This example dates, based on the ‘LA’ date code on its QA sticker, to January 2001 at the Corona assembly plant. It is in overall good condition and good working order, with some cosmetic wear. The original soft cover and document pouch is included.
