The Twelfth Fret ~ Since 1977 ~

❌SOLD❌ Fender Pro Combo Amp 1×15 Brownface, 1963

Brand:

One of Fender’s earliest amps and built from 1946 to 1965, the Fender Pro combo amp carried a singe 15 inch speaker and grew from 18 to 40 watts before being replaced by the Pro Reverb amp. Initially called the Professional, shortened to Pro in 1948, this amp is one of the rarer Fender amps. Its circuitry is very much like the VibroVerb, but without reverb.

This Fender Pro combo amp is date stamped to June 5 1963 and RA 2363 on the chassis and above the tube chart on the cabinet. Its original 15 inch speaker has been replaced with a Jensen, and the original output transformer was also replaced with a Mercury Magnetics model. It has been serviced and re-capped, and the original 2-conductor power cord has been updated to a grounded 3-conductor cable to meet modern safety standards. The grille cloth has some staining but is otherwise in good condition.

These are great sounding amps with the 15 inch speaker delivering a very thick and full sound. Writing this upstairs from the retail floor while the amp is being used, there’s an unmistakable, physical presence to the sound.
